Human Mind

The world conspires to lead us to wherever it is our heart desires to go OR we conspire to interpret the world so as to show us the path we want to take in our hearts.

When we desire something, when our mind is fixated on an issue 24/7, we keep searching for clues around us that would lead us to the destination we so desire. By mere desiring we change the configuration of the world around us in such a manner that it shows exactly the picture we want to see. We hang on to every little hint and clue that could serve the purpose of unlocking our bound desires. Thereby we conspire to extract from this complex world the exact solution that would be the answer to our pining heart’s problem. But what happens when the solution we so extract were not exactly what we had desired for or aimed at? Should we then turn around and blame the entire world for being cruel and unyielding? Should we lose heart or perhaps accept failure? Actually we accept failure in our minds first before it comes to us i.e. we first accept defeat and then the genius mind of ours conspires to show us the path to doom, just as we had conceived it in our minds. Again we desire defeat and so we show ourselves the path to it. So in a way it would be right to say that we always jump to conclusions (thereafter striving to make those conclusions true for us)!

Everything is out there to be achieved or rejected. It is our conniving mind that shows us exactly whatever it is that it wants us to see. As the cliché goes-“It’s all in the mind”. No one defeats us in any manner; we ourselves think and accept defeat first before it is handed to us. Similarly we win in our minds first then actually go on to find the pathway that leads to victory.

We therefore don’t need to follow outside signs to reach our destinies; we need to read our minds and interpret its signals to know exactly where we are going- the proper signs are our own mind’s doings. If it is showing us the pathway to self-defeat then we need to choose either to change our lanes and initiate a paradigm shift to reverse our way back to winning ways or else we may choose to accept that it is we ourselves who desire defeat and therefore not feel disappointed by it when it does come. The former attitude is what hard core winners possess, who live and play the game of life with a never say die attitude- whenever they recognize the signs that direct them towards the losing path, they revolt, fight and achieve a paradigm shift to change their mind to see the winning path once again. The latter attitude would be the one possessed by yogis, who never allow themselves to be hurt or disappointed, with their own mind’s doings because they have learnt the art of interpreting its signals and accepting its whims without being influenced by its ecstasies and disappointments. So the winners possess the never say die spirits and the yogis possess the wisdom to accept results as a simple state of mind rather than anything else.

There is however another category of people who are tossed around by their mind’s endless turbulence and who feel proud of their achievements and also cry bitterly at their disappointments; they are at the mercy of their conniving, conspiring mind and so they are the ones who feel the extremes of emotions; they do not recognize their own mind’s signals and ascribe their achievements and defeats to be the handiwork of outside influences; it is they who are not in control of themselves. They suffer the most and perhaps they enjoy the most too. They are the ordinary men- the common man.

So which state is the best amongst them? Are the hard core winners the best of the lot because they know how to win? Or are the yogi types at advantage because they are unaffected by win or loss? Or is the ordinary man living a real life by being in the thick of things, winning some, losing some and laughing and crying every now and then?
